Board of Editors Bios

 

Levi Andrist is a third-year law student and serves as the Editor in Chief of the North Dakota Law Review. Levi grew up in Crosby, ND. He graduated from Divide County High School in 2003. He then earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. During his summer seasons, Levi was a Burning Hills Singer in the Medora Musical in Medora, ND. Upon graduation, he served as an intern in the Washington, D.C., office for U.S. Senator Kent Conrad. During law school, Levi serves as a teaching assistant for the academic success program and as a team leader for first-year law student orientation. Levi also served as an extern at the U.S. District Court in Fargo, N.D., in the chambers of Chief Magistrate Judge Karen K. Klein, District Judge Ralph R. Erickson, and Senior Judge Rodney S. Webb. In the spring of 2009, Levi served as a legislative intern for the N.D. Legislative Assembly in Bismarck, N.D. Levi is a student member of the American Bar Association and a pupil of the Randy H. Lee Inn of Court. He’s married to Bethany, who is operations coordinator at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks, N.D. Outside of law school, Levi and Bethany are active members at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and they enjoy spending time with family and friends.

 

 

Kelly E. Olson is a third-year law student and serves as the Managing Editor of the North Dakota Law Review. Kelly was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota, and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 2003.  Following graduation, she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where she studied English Writing, History, and Political Science.  Throughout college, Kelly was very involved with Track and Field. While at Concordia, Kelly earned several athletic honors including All-American, Academic All-American, All-Conference, and Conference Honorable Mention.  She was voted team captain for the 2006-2007 season and also represented Concordia on the 2007 Conference Sportsmanship Team. Kelly began her legal career at the UND School of law in 2007. During law school, she has been involved with the North Dakota Law Review, the UND Law Clinic, and Law School Orientation. Along with her involvement in those organizations, she has also been a member of "Rough Justice," the women's Malpractice Bowl football team for the past three years.  When Kelly is not busy with school activities, she enjoys spending time with her family, her fiancé, and her friends.  She also enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and eating junk food.

 

 

Denitsa R. Mavrova is a third-year law student and serves as the Student Articles and Managing Associate Editor of the North Dakota Law Review. Denitsa holds a B.A. degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in English Literature and Political Science. Prior to law school, Denitsa served as the International Exchange Programs Coordinator for Concordia Language Villages and volunteered as an adviser to international students on campus. In 2008, Denitsa completed a federal summer externship with the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals. She has also served as the immigration law extern for Legal Services of North Dakota. Denitsa is currently a Teaching Assistant for the Lawyering Skills program and the 3L co-chair of the Academic Success program. Most recently, Denitsa was a summer associate for the Vogel Law Firm in the firm’s Fargo and Moorhead offices. Outside of law school, Denitsa enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing with her one-year-old boxer, Optimus Prime.

 

 

Jonathan J. O’Konek is a third-year law student and serves as Senior Editor of the North Dakota Law Review, where he works as a Student Articles Editor and as a Symposium Editor.  Jonathan's hometown is Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Jonathan Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and philosophy from Texas A&M University. He is a former member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. Jonthan is a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army and has been selected to receive a commission in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps upon graduation from law school. Jonathan is married to his wonderful wife and fellow law student Wendy Ellis.  Upon graduation, they will seek admission to the Wisconsin Bar.

 

 

Tom Duppong is a third-year law student and serves as the Outside Articles and Symposium Editor of the North Dakota Law Review. Tom was born is Bismarck and has lived in Glen Ullin, Dickinson, Jamestown, Bismarck, and Missoula (and unfortunately Grand Forks during the winter time). He is the proud father of a three year old girl, Audrey, who keeps him busy. Tom graduated in 2004 from UND with B.A. degrees in Political Science and Economics. He then earned an M.B.A. in 2006 from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana, and served as a summer associate for the United States Senate Finance Committee. Tom serves as a law clerk at Pearson Christensen & Clapp, a Grand Forks Law Firm and as a law clerk in the North Dakota District Court in Grand Forks. He previously served as an extern in the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota in Fargo. Tom’s volunteers for the Lions Club, the Graduate Business Student Association, as the UND Softball Team Manager, and as treasurer for the UND School of Law Federalist Society. Tom likes watching the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings, playing basketball, and hiking in Glacier National Park. Tom tries to eat as many hamburgers and chocolate chip cookies (with 2% milk) that he can.
